Aber dsf, du hast Recht, sie wiederholt oft ihre Antworten bzw schmückt sie einfach nur in andere Worte, das ist natürlich fürs Tippen ärgerlich, denn das zieht es unnötig in die Länge

Uhhh brisante Themen.. Also bei Outing hätte ich Angst, dass sie mir aufn Kopf springt und naja Fanbase, das ist auch recht heikel oder??
Ich mein, man will ihr ja nichts böses damit aber ich kann schon verstehen, dass sie manchmal ein bisschen arg angenervt von den Themen an sich ist.. bei DEM Zwergenaufstand auf meinem Forum gegen meine Person wär ich das wohl auch

Ines: But I really liked the songs that you played at the Marconi Sessis.

Sarah: Right.

Ines: They are fabulous, you know?

Sarah: Ah, thank you.

Ines: And and that’s the reason why … where they written before or …?

Sarah: No, some of us some of them were and some of them they weren’t recor most of them weren’t recorded yet. And so some of them were written but just not recorded yet. And so I had to kinda make a choice of what do of what do I have. But they were all – I mean – “Go” and “Fine” and ah what else is on there? Well “Fine”, “Follow me”, “Grey”, “Don’t stop” …

Ines: “Stay”

Sarah: Yes, “Stay” is not on there, “Stay” is not on the mini album, no.

Ines: No? Oh, I listen to it all the time.

Sarah: Uhm, but ah “Go” and “Fine” were favorites of mine too. And “Fine” was a song I wrote with my producer and that we recorded right after we wrote it. And then “Go” was was like an older one of mine that I’ve written a long time before so those were also songs that I really loved and really wanted to be on there so… So all five were really uhm for me favorite legiminate songs that I wanted on the mini album.

Ines: Yeah, I can understand. You put them out and showed the world ah where you are in your life like now like …

Sarah: Yeah, exactly.

Ines: … because there are more more happy songs like “Almost happy” was depressing. It was a great album, I I love it, …

Sarah: Yeah.

Ines: … but but it’s different.

Sarah: Yeah, it has a very different vibe and that was important to me too. I really wanted to c give a sample and show like: “okay, this is what I’m doing right now”. And ah it will all make a lot more sense when the full album comes out and you can really get more of a full picture. But it’s true what you’re saying, it has a different vibe and a different emotion to it and that was important to me too to get that out there and tour on that.

Ines: Mhm. Was it intentional that you’re more political in some songs like “Happen” or “Not insane”?

Sarah: Uhm I think it’s just I think that just happens when you get a little older, you know? Everything starts being less about yourself and a little more about things around you and things that affect you. Ah I just noticed that like three or four songs that I wrote are – you know – not love songs and are are more about an issue or something and that’s something I never used to do.

Ines: Yeah.

ich wollte das eh in der form bringen, daß sie für die vielen babys im forum ja sowieso ein role model ist, ob sie's will oder nicht, und jeder artikel über sie wird damit eingeleitet, daß sie glücklich mit ihrer freundin in tennessee lebt, da kann sie's doch gleich einmal offiziell sagen und das wars. aber es ist zur zeit ein unausgesprochenes thema und irgendwie will sie glaub ich auch nicht darüber sprechen.
klar ist's heikel, drum wollt ich das ganze ja am schluß machen, wo mir die zeit davongerannt ist. aber das sind halt auch interessante themen, find ich.

Ja ähm ich habe wieder mal nicht geschaut, ob schon ne neue Seite begonnen wurde.
Aber es soll sowas heißen wie: "Dieses eine Zitat hat mir meine ganze Vorstellung von Sarah zerstört desshalb werde ich mich jetzt längere Zeit nicht mehr blicken lassen, ihre CDs zerstören und nur noch schlechte Musik hören."

Sarah: And I think it’s not it’s not a conscious decision like: “oh, it’s time for me to go political or something”. But I think just when you get older you care more about the world around you and and it starts getting to you more. And I get more emotional like I think ten years ago I would have get gotten a lot less emotional about the war than I am now. When you’re 20, it’s just different than when you’re 30 and you really you are that age when you could have kids and you see children on TV and you’re like … it’s a different emotion than when you’re 20. So I just think I’d I care more.

Ines: Mhm. So being responsible for children also changed your point of view of the world or or is it just an age thing? What do you think.

Sarah: Ah, I think a little bit of both. I think when when you’re with children you become less selfish and your time your time is not all of your own anymore and you really ahm all you wanna do is to make sure that they grow up happy, you know? And that they grow up to be happy, well-rounded adults, you know? That’s your main goal. And every minute that you spend with them is a minute that you spend well. Where before, I’d often wonder like: “what should I do today?” or “What am I doing with my life? Should I go back to school? Should I go to tai-tsi? Should I do yoga? Should I go to the library? Should I read a book?” You know what I mean? Like over-analyse your life and over-analyse how you spend your time. With kids, it’s easy, you know? You spend your time with them.

Ines: You have you have less time for yourself.

Sarah: Yeah, you have less time for yourself and for me it was actually a good thing. It helps me.

Ines: Ah is it different ah difficult today to be an European living in America in these crazy times? Like there are

Sarah: Ah it’s a little bit weird because I I have strong opinions about about what’s going on but I have to be careful because I’m not American, you know? And I don’t wanna insult anyone. Uhm and I feel I also feel like I come back to Europe and I have to defend America all the time.which is getting really old. I love America. And I I don’t agree with the war and I don’t think president Bush is a great president and you know I I I’m pre I’m almost a pacifist, you know? I I don’t agree with what’s going on but at the same time I love living there. And I love I love America. I really do and I think it has a lot of potential and a lot of really really is a land of lot of opportunity and it’s it’s a fun country. I really love it and I I’m getting really sick of having to defend it to everybody. I wouldn’t have to say: “Well, not everyone’s like that” and: “Not everyone’s like in the movies”. And it’s just like and then and then in America I’m not a 100 % American either so I have to talk about Europe there so I I’m a little bit in between, you know? I’m not all the way American and I’m not all the way Belgian anymore because I don’t know what’s going on here anymore, you know? Someone tells me “Ah you know that celebrity?” and I’m like “Never heard of it”. I don’t live here nor watch TV in Belgium so so I feel kind of like in between two places sometimes.

Ines: Did you write « Happen » about Bush or is it just a general song ?

Sarah: Yeah, it is. It is I I I ah I’m just you know we can talk about this for two hours probably but I I I’m really I didn’t agree with with the war and I just think that attacking a country ah with no when you’re not 100 % sure that you have to like in World War II or something when the Nazis were taking over and it was very clear that there was something that had to be done. There’s so much vague information and I just think when when 10.000 innocent people die because of vague information I can I just don’t see that. And it it makes me really it makes me a lot like I said it makes me a lot more mad than it did 10 years ago. Now I feel really involved and I I look at at the paper and now the amount of soldiers that die now it’s on page 7 you know? It’s no longer on page 1 ‘cause nobody cares anymore but it’s still the same amout of people that’s dying every week.

Ines: It’s the same with Afghanistan. None cares about Afghanistan.

Sarah: None cares about, it’s Iraq now. It’s like there’s always an enemy, you know? And then and then I look at those guys and it’s like Lt. Whatever, 19. And I think: “19?”. And I think about and I think about one of my friends back in Tennessee and her son is 19. And I think about how young that ki guy is. And how how he has everything ahead of him, you know? And it’s like I just don’t I can’t see it. That makes me very sad. That makes me really sad. When you start thinking that okay that’s a 19 years old kid that’s at least a hundred people that will never be the same because that guy died. And it’s just and there was one one part at “9/11” d did you see “Fahrenheit 9/11”?

Ines: Yeah.

Sarah: The best part I thought was when Michael Moore said: “All these brave soldiers uhm risk their lives for us, for our freedom and for the country and all that they ask is that we’re that it’s absolutely necessary that we go.” And I think that’s actually that that really sums up how I feel about it. And I I’m not against the army, I realize it has to exist and I I’ve nothing but admiration for the soldiers who are out there and I have respect for them in everything you can imagine and I support them but that’s exactly my point like all that they want is that you’re sure that they need to be there and I feel like none was really

Ines: That they die for a reason and not for for oil.

Sarah: Yeah, I feel like none was really sure about that so that makes me mad. And “Happen” is about that.

Ines: Back to the music. Ah do you think your fan base changed because when I look at the official forum it’s like younger people?

New interviewer: Hello.

Sarah: Uhm, hey. Uhm I I hope I always hope I mean when you make a new record you kinda hope that you’re not just addressing the fans you already have but you’re also winning over new audience that could be you know 16, 17 or old too maybe never heard of k’s Choice and so I have noticed that there are more younger people and uhm I think it’s great you know? I I don’t think I I make that kind of music that scared away my old fans, you know? It’s it’s not like “Oh, you know it’s gone 180 degrees different direction and we don’t like it anymore and now it’s just for thirteen years olds.” But at the same time I’m very excited that young people you know that young people are into it and and it’s a very concious concious desire of me to keep making new fans and attract new people and not just you know that are now getting 25 and 30 and 35.

Ines: And it’s different now. You’re not k’s Choice, you’re part of k’s Choice but you’re

Sarah: Yeah, yeah.

nein, das wars eigentlich. vielleicht geht's mir nur so am wecker, weil ich das seit eineinhalb jahren in unzähligen diskussionen gehört habe. und anscheinend muß man das jedesmal erwähnen, wenn man kritik an der amerikanischen führung anbringt.
