Newsletter von Wears the Trousers
Come in from the cold you lovely people; the radio silence is over.
It's been a ludicrously long time since we sent out a newsletter but I
hope you find us fonder in your hearts for such a lengthy absence.
Let's start with some good news – we've got a cracking Christmas issue
coming up, if we can just about crowbar it in between gigs and parties
and the mean mister grinch that goes by the name of Sir
Procrastination. Here's the line up:
Nanci Griffith
Shawn Colvin
The Be Good Tanyas
Kathryn Williams
Erin McKeown
Josephine Foster
Bat For Lashes
PlanningToRock
Robyn
Colleen
Amy Millan
Sarah Harmer
My Brightest Diamond
Piney Gir
Persephone's Bees
Anja Garbarek
& The Last Town Chorus
Not bad eh? We've also got a buyer's guide to Christmas albums and a
special feature on the tenth anniversary of "Girl Power".

So, while we're working round the clock to cram it all in, we'd really
appreciate it if you could put your own grey matter to work and get
voting for our 2006 round-up… same categories as last year:
Album of the year (last year's winner: Kate Bush – Aerial)
Single of the year (last year's winner: Emiliana Torrini – Heartstopper)
Best breakthrough artist (last year's winner: Martha Wainwright)
Best live act (last year's winner: Sons & Daughters)
Woman of the year (last year's winner: Kate Bush)
As much as we loved the fact that last year some of you voted your
nearest and dearest as woman of the year, please try to stick to
musicians

anyone who has really stood out from the crowd, stuck it
to 'the man', inspired you or made a real difference to others even
though they're not really your cup of tea.
Please send your votes to
itstheendoftheyearasweknowitandifeelfin ... sers.co.uk by December
22nd.

We would also like to know the seven new (or new-ish) artists/bands
you think we'll all be talking about next year. As we did last year,
we'll be featuring our pick of the bunch and trying our best to
interview all of them as 2007 progresses.
Please send your nominees to
ladiesinwaiting@thetrousers.co.uk by December 22nd.

In other news, if you have a last.fm account (and if not, why not?
it's amazing), we'd love it if you'd join us in the recently created
Wears The Trousers group:
http://www.last.fm/group/Wears+The+Trousers+magazine
Most popular in this week's chart: The Be Good Tanyas and Regina
Spektor... keep up the excellent work!

Finally, here's a bit of a plea. You may have noticed that updates to
the website haven't been as frequent of late, particularly in the news
section. This is not good and I would really like to rectify the
situation for January. With a new website finally underway (hopefully
to launch with issue 6 at the end of February – yes, we're going
bimonthly!) I am looking for one or two special someones to help out
with writing news stories for the website. It's quite simple really
and would be ideal for anyone looking to chalk up some experience in
music journalism. Email me at
alan@thetrousers.co.uk for more info.
Serious applicants only please!!
